Because a passion for books is contagious. And that's a magical thing.
About Reading Club
When I was a teacher, reading aloud was my absolute favorite activity. There was no greater joy for me in the school day than sharing my passion for books with students.
And that's what Reading Club is all about. During each four-week session, I'll be reading the best in children's literature, asking thought-provoking questions, and extending our appreciation of the stories through art activities.
AGES: Reading Club is geared toward students grade 3-8.
WHEN: April 13-May 8, Mondays-Fridays at 9 a.m. Pacific time. Students don't have to be there "live." Session recordings will be made available.
WHERE: The online Reading Club Zoom Room
BOOKS: Our first book will be the Newbery Award-winning Walk Two Moons by Sharon Creech. If time permits, we will also explore some of Gary Paulsen's short stories.
COST: Each four-week session costs $57 per student or $75 for families with two or more children. Please Note: You can also contribute to our scholarship fund by selecting "Scholarship" during checkout. This option will cover your child/children AND help another student.
WHY: Because reading is the key to a bright future. Because loving to read is the foundation that ALL children MUST have in order to reach for the stars. Just look at the research. Kids who have a strong love of reading go on to do amazing things.
In Reading Club, we’ll do it the fun way. The natural way. No grades. No stress. Just full immersion in our books. Kids will listen to me reading for 35 minutes at a time (they'll have the option of reading along silently if they choose). Then we’ll discuss what is happening in the story, answer a few questions, think about the characters, the setting, and the plot. Oh, yeah... and we'll some art along the way!
A limited number of scholarships are available. Please contact me at Jools@magicalmindfulnessretreat.com for more information.
